The 80th annual Maxwell Rodeo takes place beginning at 8 a.m. today with a bull run, followed by the parade at 9:45 The rodeo events will begin at 1 p.m. For more information on the rodeo, parade or car show entries, please call 438-2425.

Williams FBLA raising money

The Williams High School Future Business Leaders of America is holding an enchilada sale to raise money for the 2010 National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn.

You may order from Alvaro Ramos, Kamalpreet Sahota or Miguel Puentes, or call 473-5369, Ext 328. Pick up of orders will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Williams fire hall, or 6 p.m. Wednesday at the school.

The cost is $14 per dozen or $8 per half dozen.

Award nominations sought

The Colusa-Glenn-Trinity Community Action Partnership, which offers a variety of programs to help low-income individuals and families, is using the backdrop of the economic crisis to create awareness of poverty in the local communities during National Community Action Month, commemorated in May to highlight the anti-poverty work of Community Action Agencies across the country.

As part of National Community Action month, CAP is also calling for nominations of outstanding volunteers that serve those in need in Glenn County.

Donate blood, save a life

Colusa High School will host a blood drive for students from 1-3 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. for community members Monday in the foyer at 901 Colus Avenue. All 16 and 17 year olds may participate but require parental consent. Participants must be at least 16 years of age, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health. Those how have had tattoos or piercings within the last year are not allowed to donate.

For more information, obtain a parental consent form or be scheduled, see Rhonda Landreth in the counseling office as soon as possible or call 458-2156.

Annual District Dash Fun Run

The annual District Dash fun run will be held in Williams beginning at 8 a.m. on May 22, beginning at Williams Middle School, 300 11th Street. A 5K and 1 mile course are available as well as a Kid's Challenge of .25 or .5 miles. The entry fee is $20 and includes a T-shirt and refreshments and this year's proceeds to the WHS Girls; Basketball Teams.

Free car seat check-ups offered

The California Highway Patrol will hold its annual spring child safety seat check up event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 22 at the north parking lot of the Colusa County Fairgrounds, 1303 10th Street, Colusa. Have your child safety seat inspected by certified safety seat technicians and learn the proper way of installing your child safety seat.

Horseshoe tournament set

The Lion's Club will host their first annul Community Horseshoe Tournament on May 22 with registration open from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and games lasting from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The Lions will have barbequed hamburgers and hotdogs for sale at the event.
