Community Briefs: Colusa House Decorating Contest winners announced
The Colusa Lion's club has announced the winners of the 2013 Christmas House Decorating Contest:
First: Tony Guidera — 2632 Third St. (Walnut Ranch).
Second: Dan & Toni Kiely — 254 Allen Circle.
Third: John Smart — 303 Webster St.
Pictures of the winning houses' decorations will run in next week's Christmas Day edition of the Sun-Herald.
Catholic Ladies plan Card Party for January
The Catholic Ladies Relief Society recently completed plans for its annual Card Party and Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, at St. Bernadette's Hall on Ware Avenue in Colusa.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. and the luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. The cost of the luncheon is $12.
A door prize, four raffle prizes, and prizes for high scores will be awarded. Everyone who enjoys cards is welcome. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Dec. 30, Monday, at 257 Florimond Drive.

Explorers having Christmas Toy Drive
The Williams Police Department Explorers are asking for the community's help to bring a smile to a child this holiday season.
The group is asking people to help by donating an unwrapped toy for a child between the ages of 2-12 and bringing it to the Williams High School office or the Williams Police Department. The toys will be given to children in need within the community.
CHiPs for Kids seeks donations
Donations are being accepted through Thursday for the annual CHiPs for Kids program to benefit Colusa County residents.
The program is sponsored by the California Highway Patrol-Williams area and Impact Life Thrift Store.
Barrels for donations are placed at the Williams CHP office, Impact Life Thrift Store and businesses and schools throughout Colusa County. Donations will be distributed Saturday at Burchfield Elementary School.
