Letter: An apology to Ingebretsens

I would like to publicly express my sincere apology to Valorie, Gerry and Devan Ingebretsen and the entire Vedo and Ingebretsen families. It was certainly not my intention to cause anyone pain.

Supporters of SB399 have petitioned at Catholic churches throughout the state. The Catholic church has included this bill in their annual Lobby Day for the past two years.

We were making a last-minute push for people to call Assembly members and in my frantic efforts to help this bill, I took my letter requesting support to church.

I neglected to take into consideration the size of our town.

I can only express my regret for adding to Valorie's suffering and ask for the understanding that I must do what I can to help to one day change the law and give those youth sentenced to die in prison a second chance.

In closing, I pray to God that Valorie was aware of the front page headline this past Saturday, prior to distribution; if she wasn't she did not need the additional anguish.
