Build a better body

 

A new session for the Better Body Fitness Class will begin Jan. 4, 2010 at the City Hall Auditorium, 425 Webster St., Colusa. Bring hand weights and a mat. Space is limited. Sign up now at City Hall or call 624-3038 or 458-5025

Soroptomists offering cash awards

Soroptimist International of Colusa County is accepting applications for the Woman's Opportunity Awards through Jan. 5.

The program aids women seeking to improve their economic status by gaining additional skills, training and education. The local award provides $750 and can be used to offset any costs associated with their efforts to attain higher education, including tuition, books, supplies, and childcare

The local winner is eligible for additional awards at other levels of the organization. Soroptimist International grants three $10,000 finalist awards each year.

The Women's Opportunity Awards program helps women who, as the primary wage earners for their families, must improve their employment status by entering or returning to the work force.

Local applications are available at the Colusa County Office of Education, 146 Seventh St., and at Children's Services, 345 Fifth St.

Christmas tree disposal begins on Dec. 28

Colusa will take Christmas trees for recycling behind the Boy Scouts cabin located at the Will S. Green Park between Dec. 28 and Jan. 8. The drop-off area is across from Egling Middle School. For more information you may contact Lani at 458-5890, ext 101.

Williams announces Christmas tree drop-off

Christmas tree drop-offs will take place Dec. 26 through Jan. 11 at the corner of Ninth and Webber streets, behind the swimming pool. All stands and nails must be removed.
