Betty Hardy
Betty (Cheney) Hardy, 93, a longtime resident of Colusa County, died May 9, 2008 in Post Falls, Idaho, at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Struckmeyer.
Betty was born in Williams, California on March 21, 1915 to Merrick and Amelia (Graser) Cheney. She attended school in Williams and graduated from Williams High School in 1933, working in the post office after graduation. Betty married Jess Hardy of College City where they raised their three daughters. Her loving attendance to her children and support to Jess with Hardy Harvester occupied most of her time; but she also enjoyed gardening, playing the piano/organ, and traveling. She was a member of the Arbuckle Golf Club. She is survived by daughters, Joan Ohland and Carolyn Struckmeyer of Post Falls, Idaho and daughter Patricia Kalfsbeek of Arbuckle, twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchilddren. She was proceeded in death by husband Jess Hardy; parents, Merrick and Amelia Cheney; brothers, Palmer Cheney, Reg Cheney, Aubrey Cheney; sister, Dorothy Cheney and grandson, Timothy Ohland. A visitation was held Saturday, May 17th from 4-6 p.m. at McNary-Moore Funeral Chapel. A graveside service was held on Monday May 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the College City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to The Betty Cheney Memorial Scholarship Fund at any Umpqua Bank, or Arbuckle Fire Department, or College City Cemetery Fund.
Services are under the direction of McNary-Moore Funeral Services.
