Briefs: Memorial service planned
The dedication of a memorial bench in remembrance of Roberto Ayala is scheduled for 2:40 p.m. at Grand Island Elementary School in Grimes.
Ayala was killed in an explosion on July 16, 2011.
Paul Moore has been arrested and is charged with murder in connection to the death.
Ceramics classes available
The Colusa Arts Council will host ceramics workshops from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. The classes will be taught by Peter Adams.
Cost is $30, plus $6 for clay. The council is located at 537 Market St.

Rummage sale on Saturday
The Beta Sigma Phi sorority will hold a multi-family rummage sale from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Colusa Senior Center, 901 Parkhill St.
Proceeds will be used for various service projects in Colusa.
Sept. 29 is Williams Fun Run
The Williams Fun Run and Walk will be begin at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 29 at Williams Unified School District Office, 260 Eleventh St.
The Kid's Challenge will begin at 9:45 a.m.
Entry fee is $10.

Chico Air Show Sept. 28-30
The Chico Air Show will take place Sept. 28-30 at the Chico Municipal Airport, 150 Airpark Blvd., Chico.
A CF-18 Demo Team from the Royal Canadian Air Force will be featured, as well as the freestyle motocross team, Metal Mulisha FMX.
General admission tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the gate. Children are $5. Gates open at 9 a.m.
