Williams CHP officer finds 300 pounds of marijuana in vehicle
A Williams-area California Highway Patrol officer seized 300 pounds of marijuana wrapped in trash bags and a loaded .38- caliber handgun from a Gold Chevy Tahoe, the CHP said on Saturday.
The items were confiscated after the officer stopped the vehicle on Interstate 5 south of Husted Road at about 7:20 p.m. on Friday, according to the CHP.
The driver, Javier Contreras Huerta, 47, of San Pablo, and passenger Pedro Berrelleza-Carrillo, 43, of Antioch were arrested on suspicion of multiple drug and firearms violations.
The estimated street value of the marijuana is $750,000, according to CHP.
The Colusa County Narcotics Task Force assisted the CHP officer at the scene.
