Church gives thanks

Dear Editor,

Members of the First Baptist Church of Colusa are grateful to the Colusa Fire Department for the expertise and professionalism shown this past Saturday, when they did a controlled burn of our sanctuary. They spend the entire day, beginning about 6:30 a.m., with approximately twenty firefighters (my guess, although I forgot to count them) doing a lot of training in the process. By 4:00 there were still seven of them putting out the smoldering hot spots.

This training opportunity for them was also a blessing to us, because it saved us a lot of money in disposal cost. It still will cost us about $12,000 to clean up the remains, but it would have been substantially more without their help.

When we get into our new sanctuary (Christmas time?, New Year?), we want to host the fire department and families to a dinner at the church to show our gratitude.

Pastor Samuel Krouse
