Letter: College classes merit GPA bump

Colusa High School students are at a disadvantage that can be easily remedied. Those who take UC-approved Yuba College classes should receive a weighted grade-point average on their CHS transcript. Why?

Let’s say a Colusa High student and a student from another Colusa County, Sacramento or Roseville-area take the exact same class. The students from the other schools will get a boost in their GPA. CHS students don’t.

When both apply to college, guess who looks like the better student? Double ditto for scholarship applications.

I am certain our school board and CHS staff want to provide students a level playing field. Let’s give them the credit they deserve.
