Scouts flipping 'jacks today

Boy Scout Troop 5 is having a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m.-11 a.m. today at the Colusa Scouts Cabin at Ninth and Parkhill streets in Colusa.

The cost is $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Proceeds will send 11 scouts to summer camp.

Football fundraiser tonight

Colusa County Youth Football and Cheer will hold a crab, steak and chowder dinner and dance tonight at Roccos's Bar and Grill, 546 Market St., Colusa.

The social hour begins at 5 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6.

The band Highway 20 will perform.

Tickets are $45 per person and are available at Rocco's or any CCYF board member. Tickets will also be available at the door. Must be 21 to attend.

Civil War quilts will be shown

The Pacific Flyway Quilters will hold a presentation at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Masonic Lodge, 311 Fifth St., Colusa.

Arlene Arnold of Colusa will share some of her quilts in a show called "Quilts of Glory," which includes pieced and appliquéd quilts made by hand and dating between 1850-1890. The presentation is free to the public.

The Pacific Flyway Quilters Guild meets every third Wednesday. For more information, call 933-8453.

Livestock meeting slated Friday

An education program with information related to the health and management of beef cattle and pasture will be held from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday at the Old 99 Steakhouse at 610 S. Tehama St., Willows.

The even is free but RSVPs are required, 527-3101.

Special guest speaker Dr. David Patterson from the University of Missouri will talk about selection and development of replacement heifers. Other topics discussed include bull performance, de-worming, and alternative feeds for cattle. Irrigated pasture irrigation efficiency and fertility will also be discussed.

The meeting is sponsored by the Glenn, Colusa and Tehama County Cooperative Extensions; the Cattlemen's Association in Glenn-Colusa, and Tehama Counties; Genex; and Merial and Boehringer Ingelheim.

Lunch will be provided, compliments of Merial and Boehringer Ingelheim.
