Colusa claims court war with Willows
The winner of Thursday's matchup between the Colusa and Willows high school tennis team was yet to be determined following the conclusion of singles play, but by taking two of the three doubles matches, the RedHawks posted a 6-3 decision in Willows.
Colusa's Coral Imhoff kicked things off with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Stephanie Carriere at the top spot, but play continued into a third set on the second and third courts. Taylor Davies came back after dropping the first set for a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over the Honkers' Bisma Khan, but Sonia Hernandez stopped Colusa's Cheyenne Laux 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 in another comeback win.
Ashley Roman won for the RedHawks on Court 4 with a 6-0, 6-2 decision against Laura Farias; teammate Ann Kalisuch bested Marialena Palacios 6-0, 6-2; and the Honkers' Carolina Ruvalcaba topped Kodie Solis 6-0, 7-5.
The RedHawks were able to put the match away with wins by Imhoff/Daviies (8-4) and Roman/Solis (8-2) versus the tandems of Carriere/Khan and Yesenia Quezada/Andrea Rodriguez, respectively.
Willows took the match on Court 2 with Hernandez/Davis defeating Laux/Kalisuch 8-4.
