Learning Center to hold open house
The Colusa Indian Community Council, Hand-in-Hand Learning Center will be hosting an open house from 4 p.m.-6 p.m. Oct. 29 in honor of 10 years of early learning development and care for children.
The center is at 50 Wintun Road in Colusa.
Some of the highlights of the open house will include a "Let's Move!" child care display of activities and events held throughout the past two years, a farm to school/preschool demonstration and cooking activity, menu samples from the Hand-in-Hand kitchen, Potter the Otter and healthy drink demonstration from First 5 Colusa, Nature Extension displays, curriculum displays and information.

Water board to hold public workshop
The Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board will hold a public workshop on Oct. 30 at the Colusa Indian Community Council Community Center, 3730 Highway 45 in Colusa.
There will be a set of new water quality regulations imposed on Sacramento Valley irrigated agriculture and managed wetland owners as soon as April.
The workshop will summarize the proposed new regulations and give opportunity to comment on issues of concern to Regional Board Members. Interested persons are encouraged to attend and present oral comments.

Our Lady of Lourdes to hold fundraiser
Our Lady of Lourdes is holding a 9 Hole Golf Tournament at Colusa Golf & Country Club on Saturday to raise funds to send students to Washington, D.C.
The format for the tournament is a 4-person scramble, and will begin at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $50 per person, which includes pre-tourney snacks, green fees, a cart and dinner.

Colusa Holiday Craft Faire scheduled
Professional Events Services will host the Colusa Holiday Craft Faire & Gift Show at the Colusa County Fairgrounds on Nov. 23-24.
The show's hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24. The fair is expected to showcase more than 130 vendors displaying their holiday wares, crafts, and gifts.
Rocco's Bar & Grill will serve food at the Main Exhibit Hall. Santa will be making an appearance at the show and will be available for photos. If you are interested in becoming a vendor or performing, email event manager Carolan Ferreria Meek at email@example.com.
Family Water Alliance to hold fundraiser
Family Water Alliance will host its annual Hot Cajun Night fundraiser on Nov. 16 at the Maxwell Veterans' Hall, 250 Oak St.
The event features a cocktail reception, dinner, raffle, door prizes and an auction. No host cocktails begin at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m., and includes salmon, barrel cooked tri-tip, Cajun seafood rice, salad and cornbread with honey butter.
Tickets are $25 per person. Everyone attending is eligible for the grand prize, $1000 cash, donated by River Garden Farms, and First Prize, $500 cash, donated by Artois Feed.
Tickets purchased prior to Nov. 2 are also eligible for the early bird prize, a Berretta semi-automatic shotgun donated by Kittle's Outdoor & Sport Co. Must be present to win all door prizes. Tickets can be purchased by calling 438-2026 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Free flu shots to be offered Nov. 1
A free, drive through flu shot clinic is slated for 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Colusa County Fairgrounds.
The event is put on by the county Public Health Department.
People ages 2-49 deemed medical qualified will be given a nasal spray. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian or parent. People are urged to wear clothing that quickly bares the upper arm for an injection.
