Anniversary: Sharon and Ernest Robinson

They grew up next door to each other in Colusa, attended local schools together, and July 13 marked their 50th wedding anniversary.

Sharon and Ernest Robinson will celebrate their golden anniversary with their daughter's family this fall, visiting New York City and Washington D.C.

The couple exchanged wedding vows on July 13, 1960 at Park Wedding Chapel, in Reno, Nev.

The couple has lived in Durham since June 2007, moving from Colusa to be closer to their daughter and her husband, Valerie and Spencer Pendley, and their two grandchildren, Hayden and Bella.

Sharon is a Colusa High graduate who was hired as the school's secretary and retired after 40 years with the school district.

Ernest also attended local schools before serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis, Washington.

He was employed by Colusa County and was chief of maintenance until retiring in 1993. He then worked as a truck driver and equipment operator for Colusa Recycling, retiring in 2001.
