Briefs: Car Rally stopping in Colusa

More than 60 historic cars are expected to make a pit stop in Colusa today during the 22nd annual California Mille, a tribute tour that celebrates a bit of Italiana.

The drivers are stopping for lunch at the riverfront park.

The tour also includes a run through Williams on the way over to the wine country, but no stop is expected.

The event, which started on Nob Hill in San Francisco on April 30, is a salute to Italy's most famous open-road race: The Mille Miglia, or thousand mile.

The cars will range from a 1935 Lagonda Rapier to a 1958 Ferrari 250GT Spider to the youngest entry, a 1962 Alfa Romero Giulia Spider.

Duck stamp artists sought

Adult and youth artists from around the country are invited to submit their original artwork to the 2012 California Duck Stamp Contest through May 30.

The picture must depict the species selected by the California Fish and Game Commission, which is the Aleutian Canada Goose.

The winning artwork from the adult contest will be reproduced on the 2012 California Duck Stamp and the youth winner will receive an award. The top contest submissions will also be showcased at the Pacific Flyway Decoy Association's art show in July.

Forms and official rules are available online at www.dfg.ca.gov/duckstamp.
