Carnitas/salsa cook-off Sunday

The 2012 Carnitas and Salsa Cook-Off will be held from noon-4 p.m. at Belfour Park on Sunday.

The event includes food, games and entertainment. The cost is $10 and $5 for children under 12.

The park is located at 10th and Hall streets.

Applications for the cook-off teams are being taken. To sign up or for information, call Debbie Charter, 518-5955 or Mike Doherty, 681-8204.

State fair exhibit meeting slated

The next Colusa County State Fair exhibit meeting is set for 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Colusa Industrial Park conference room, 100 Sunrise Boulevard, Colusa.

A building site location is still needed.

Book fair set at medical center

A Books are Fun book fair will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday inside the lobby of Colusa Regional Medical Center, 199 E. Webster St., Colusa.

Ag scholarship deadline May 15

Colusa Women for Agriculture is taking applications for its scholarship program through May 15.

Scholarships of up to $1,000 will be given to graduating high school, college and vocational students whose education emphasis is related to agriculture.

Student must be full-time, be a Colusa County resident, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and provide an academic transcript and letter of recommendation. Applicants will be interviewed.

3-on-3 basketball tourney set

Arbuckle Parks and Recreation is sponsoring a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, benefiting the Pierce High School boys basketball program, on May 19 at both the north and south gyms.

Registration at the door starts at 8 a.m. and is $40. Pre-registration is $30.

Registration forms and complete rules can be found at www.arbuckleparksandrecreation.org. Payment and registration forms can be dropped off at Arbuckle Elementary, Johnson Junior High or Pierce High.

Bad Ball tourney aids hospital

The first annual Colusa Regional Medical Center co-ed Bad Ball Tournament will be held May 19. Registration is $20 per person, please sign up as couples.

Proceeds benefit Colusa Regional Medical Center.

Migratory Bird Day walk offered

Join a naturalist on a walk to discover the diversity of bird life in a riparian habitat from 7:30-9:30 a.m. May 19 at the Capay Unit of the Sacramento River National Wildlife Refuge. The Capay Unit is located off County Road 23, south of Hamilton City.
