Colusa County Sun-Herald
A line of vendors wait for cutomers at the opening Colusa Certified Farmers Market on Monday at Memorial Park. The event also featured the first in a summer Concert in the Park series.

Colusa Farmers Market off to a slow start

It was a slow start to the Colusa Farmers Market season, but the handful of people who did come out Monday night enjoyed some good music, and some very good produce.

And apparently, they ate a lot of hotdogs.

The Colusa Rotary Club reported selling nearly 150 of the summertime delights.

"There were not many vendors, but it was good," said Angel Rolon of Colusa.

"I bought some cherries and some onions and some (other things)."

Coming right off the four-day Colusa County Fair might explain why some attendance was down, and some people speculated it may be a bit early for local producers to have their stuff ready.

"It's too bad," Rolon said. "I think people will enjoy themselves."

The music was provided by Book 'Em Dano, a Glenn County-based band that describes its music as "summertime attitude."

It is a hot rod and surf band.

The Farmers Market runs from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. each Monday at Memorial Park, 10th and Market streets in Colusa.

It is being held in conjunction with the city's Concert in the Park series.

The next band date is June 25, and will feature the Highway 20 band.
