Stagehands auditions upcoming

Stagehands Theatre will hold auditions for two Halloween plays from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday-Thursday at the theater on the Colusa County Fairgrounds.

Auditions are open to adults and children.

The first play is "What Was That Noise?" written and to be directed by Susan Gibbs of Colusa. The second play is "A Frank Surprise" written by Geoff Moyer and will be directed by Monica Huey of Stagehands.

Permission forms need to be filled out for children, and will be available prior to auditions.

Crawdad festival set for Sept. 8

The annual Colusa Crawdad Festival, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 2145, is set to take place from 1 p.m.-10 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Colusa County Fairgrounds, 1303 10th St., Colusa.

Admission is $10 for adults and includes family fun, live music and dancing, food, wine, and arts and crafts. Children under 10 are free.

Parking is free.

Grasslands workshop planned

A three-day workshop on "Improving Grassland Health and Profitability" is being offered Sept. 25-27 at the Ridgewood Ranch in Willits.

The cost is $150 for all three days, and $90 for students with identification. Registration deadline is Sept. 15.

The event is co-sponsored by the California Native Grasslands Association, the Natural Resource Conservation District, Mendocino County Farm Bureau and the Mendocino County Resource Conservation District.

New Caltrans map online

The state Department of Transportation has launched Caltrans QuickMap, an online service that provides California motorists real-time traffic and travel information.

The map has access to nearly 1,000 freeway cameras and more than 700 electronic message signs on highways statewide to monitor traffic congestion, California Highway Patrol incidents, travel time information, lane closures and Amber Alerts.
