Youths' haunted house tonight
Colusa High School Friday Night Live and Egling Middle School Club Live are hosting a Halloween event in celebration of Red Ribbon Week and to raise funds for a future teen center.
The two groups will sponsor a haunted house from 7 p.m.-10 p.m. today at the Colusa Unified School District Theatre at 10th and Fremont streets in Colusa.
There is no charge to tour the haunted house, but donations will be accepted.
Red Ribbon Week is an annual event designed to raise awareness about drug and alcohol abuse.
Turkey Shoot slated Nov. 3
Win turkeys and hams at the annual Bear Valley and Indian Valley Fire Department's Turkey Shoot, beginning with a trap shoot at 9 a.m. Nov. 3, followed by a rifle and pistol shoot at 11.
Bring your own ammo. No peep sights or scopes.
The event will take place at the Stonyford rodeo grounds. Lunch and a raffle will also be available.
Crafts Expo next weekend
The third annual Colusa County "Make It and Take It" Craft Expo is scheduled for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on Nov. 3 in Festival Hall at the Colusa County Fairgrounds.
There will be projects to do for all ages, ranging from 50 cents to $10. Some of the projects scheduled are spin art T-shirts, scrapbook cards and frames, candles, Christmas ornaments and decorations, coasters, magnets and jewelry — 18 projects in all.
The event is open to the public.

Master gardener class offered
The deadline to register for the UC Master Gardener volunteer training program is Nov. 9. A mandatory "Meet the Master Gardeners" orientation is scheduled at 1 p.m. on Nov. 16.
Classes begin Jan. 15 and go through April. They include an introduction to horticulture, soils and water, weeds, insects, lawns, pests, landscape, fruit trees and disease diagnosis. The cost is $150, which includes two reference books.
Individuals must pass an open-book written exam, be able to volunteer a minimum of 50 hours in activities, and effectively communicate by telephone and in person.
Applications are available at the Colusa UC Cooperative Extension Office, 100 Sunrise Blvd., Suite E, Colusa, and can be left at the office as well.

Traveling outdoors showcase
Elite Sports Express will bring its 75-foot traveling showroom trailer filled with hunting and related outdoors merchandise to Kittle's Outdoor & Sports Co. in Colusa from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. on Nov. 9-10.
The store is located at Market and Eighth streets in downtown Colusa.
