Swan tours set near Marysville

Guided swan tours will be held 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.-3 p.m. each Saturday this month.

It is a driving tour along a short route with very little walking required. See tundra swans, ducks, geese, cranes, shorebirds, white pelicans, herons, egrets and raptors.

Pre-registration is required at www.wildlife.ca.gov /regions/2/SwanTours. There is no fee, but donations to the California Wildlife Foundation are requested.

Author featured on Thursday

Award-winning author and photographer Tim Palmer will be the featured guest at the Friends of the Library "Toast the Author" series scheduled for Thursday at Barrel Hall of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church on the corner of Fifth and Webster streets.

The social gathering starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m.

Palmer has written 22 books, primarily about t`he American landscape, conservation, travel and rivers.

"California Wild," which also features is photography, won the Benjamin Franklin Award for the best book on nature and the environment in 2004.

His latest book is "California Glaciers."

Caregivers meeting scheduled

A support group for caregivers of the elderly is scheduled for 2 p.m. Jan. 12 in doctor's lounge of the Colusa Regional Medical Center.

The group is designed to give caregivers in similar and often difficult situations an opportunity to talk and share knowledge and information on resources.

SF Symphony trip on Jan. 24

The Colusa County Arts Council will host a trip to the San Francisco Symphony on Jan. 24.

The cost is $40 for members, $50 for non-members.

Among this month's selection are Vivaldi's Piccolo Concerto, Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor and Mozart's Divertimento in D major.

Mobile mural project slated

The Colusa County Arts Council is organizing a Mobile Mural Project for adults and high school students in Colusa County.

Twenty-five applications will be available at each school, and adults may pick applications up at the Arts Council office, 430 Market St., Suite C, Colusa. Application deadline is Jan. 31.

The theme is "Create — Inspire, Create — Vision, Create — Love, Create — Unity."

Book Club meets on Jan. 31

The Colusa Book Club will be discussing "Windbreak: A Woman Rancher on the Northern Plains" by Linda Hasselstrom at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 31 in the Morse Conference Room of the Colusa County Library in Colusa.

Some copies are available at the library or can be purchased on Amazon. Anyone is welcome to attend, whether you have read the book or not.

Vacancy on CDBG committee

The Community Development Block Grant loan committee has a vacancy and encourages Colusa residents to apply.

The vacancy will be filled by appointment on Feb. 5. Application deadline is noon on Jan. 29.

The newly remodeled Williams Community Center will host an open house at 10 a.m. Jan. 12, 860 C St., Williams.
