Community Briefs: Oct. 31


Grimes dinner
The Grimes Ladies Aid Society will host its annual dinner and bazaar at 5 p.m. Saturday at Grimes Elementary School. Dinner is $10 for adults; $5 for ages 6 to 12; children age 5 and under are free. The bazaar will include linen, crafts, gift items and canned and baked goods.

Turkey shoot
The annual Stonyford Turkey Shoot will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stonyford Rodeo grounds. Shooting events include trap shoot, .22 rifle and .22 pistol. Sponsored by the Bear Valley/Indian Vally Fire Protection Association. For more information, call 518-5833 or 963-3140.

Friends of Music
Colusa Friends of Music holds its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Monday in the Egling Middle School band room. All interested music parents and community members are welcome. For more information, call 458-7631.

Senior games
Senior citizens are invited to participate in the Colusa Parks and Community Services Senior Game Day. The weekly event begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 425 Webster St., Room 2. For more information, call 458-5622, ext. 109, or go to www.cityofcolusa.com.

Poinsettia sale
The Egling Middle School Library is selling poinsettias to benefit the library. Each plant is $12. Orders will be accepted until Nov. 19, and will be ready for pickup between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5 at the school. For more information, call 458-7631.

Seniors walk
The Colusa Parks and Community Service Department offers a weekly senior walking program beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 425 Webster St. For more information, call 458-5622, ext. 109, or go to www.cityofcolusa.com.

Spaghetti dinner
A drive-through spaghetti dinner fundraiser is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Egling Middle School cafeteria. Dinners will be sold the same night in the Colusa High School cafeteria during the volleyball match. Tickets are $7 each. Sponsored by Colusa Friends of Music. For more information, call 458-7631.

Line dancing
A six-week country line dancing course held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays begins Nov. 12 at City Hall, Colusa. Cost is $30 per person. Register by Nov. 10. Sponsored by the Colusa Parks and Community Services Department. For more information, call 458-5622 or go to www.cityofcolusa.com.

Alliance dinner
Family Water Alliance holds its 13th annual fundraiser dinner Nov. 22 at the Maxwell Veterans Hall, 250 Oak St., Maxwell. No-host cocktails at 5:30 p.m.; dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person, and attendees will be eligible for door prizes including a 42-inch flat-screen TV. Holiday Gift Show
The 4th annual holiday gift show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Sunday, at CICC Community Bldg, 3740 HWY 45. A variety of vendors will participate. There will be a snack bar available. Bring a friend and get an extra ticket for a drawing. Main door prize is a three-month membership to the Wellness center. This event is sponsored by CICC Wellness Center.


Swing for the Redskins
The Colusa Rotary Club will sponsor a golf tournament on Nov. 5, at the Colusa Country Golf & Country Club, to help support high school senior athletes. Anyone interested in playing should contact Jim McGowan at 458-8611.
