Community Briefs: Williams Community Center seeks acts for 2014 Spectacular
The Williams Community Center is looking for talented local acts for its bi-annual Entertainment Spectacular at 6 p.m. Jan. 11. Sound check and rehearsal will be at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 10.
Both will be held at the Williams Community Center, 860 C St. in Williams. The deadline to sign up is Dec. 27. To participate, contact Melissa at (530)-458-6150 or WCCEntertainment@gmail.com.
Community Christmas concert series coming this weekend
There will be four performances of a Community Christmas Concert at churches around Colusa County. The director of the concerts is Jody Bowker and the pianist is Jean Malcolm. All shows will start at 7 p.m.
Thursday: 936 G St., Williams — Parkside Methodist Church.
Friday: Highway 45, Grimes — Grimes Community Church.
Saturday: Fourth and Jay Street, Colusa — Presbyterian Church.
Sunday: Ninth and Pendleton Street, Arbuckle — Arbuckle Methodist Church.
Gun & Knife Show on Saturday at Yolo County Fairgrounds
The Woodland Gun & Knife Show is 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at the Yolo County Fairgrounds, 1250 East Gum St., in Woodland.
Parking is free, but there is a $5 admission to the show.
Virginia Yerxa Community Read for 2014 announced
The Virginia Yerxa Community Read for 2014 will be Harper Lee's "To Kill a Mockingbird." Events for the selection are in the planning stages, including the annual Virginia Read Day on April 26.
Frontier Communications store to have grand opening
Frontier Communications will be holding a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday, December 18, from 11 a.m. -1:30 p.m. at 21 12th St. in Colusa. Food, refreshments, and drawings to win gift certificates to various Colusa restaurants will be offered.
Arts council to have Christmas party on Friday
The Colusa County Arts Council is having a members only Christmas Party from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Friday at its new office at 613 Market St.
Memberships can be paid at the door: $30 individuals, $40 families. Board meetings are open to the public the third Monday each month at 6:30 p.m. The next meeting will be at the new office on Monday
