Free car seat check-up

 

The California Highway Patrol, in conjunction with Colusa County Health and Human Services and First 5 Colusa, will hold a child safety seat check-up from 9 a.m. to noon today in the north parking lot of the Colusa County Fairgrounds, 1303 10th St., Colusa. For more information, contact Officer John Waggoner at 473-2821. Annual demolition derby

The Colusa Firefighters Association will host its third annual Demolition Derby on Sept. 11 at the Colusa County Fairgrounds grandstand, 1303 10th St., Colusa. Gates open at 5 p.m. and the derby starts at 7.

Tickets are $10 for children 12 and under and $15 for adults. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Impact Toy Drive and save $5 off the admission fee.

Tickets are available at the Colusa Fire Department, 750 Market St., or from any Colusa firefighter. Tickets will also be available at the gate. All proceeds go back into the community for scholarships, smoke detector program, and other community events.

Electronic 4-H enrollment

Colusa County 4-H enrollment is now electronic and there will be two nights available to enroll. The first night will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Princeton High School computer lab, 473 State St., Princeton, and from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Pierce High School computer lab, 966 Wildwood Road, Arbuckle.

Parents must attend enrollment, bring medical information and be prepared to pay a $30 enrollment fee for members and $6 for leaders.
