Who is complaining?
Even though we are no longer living in Colusa, I just felt I had to address this issue.
I am trying to figure out exactly who or whom are the ones complaining about the school’s mascot name???
I thought that this had been addressed a few years back and that the Govenor of California threw the whole thing out.
I for one was a Lady Redskin while attending Colusa High School. My husband and I graduated from Colusa High as did all three of our children.
Our Son played football for 4 years as a Redskin..Our oldest daughter played basketball and tennis as a Lady Redskin.. and our youngest daughter played volleyball, softball as a Lady Redskin and was a cheerleader for the Redkins.
We brought up our children to respect all cultures as well as their home, family and country.
I know of no other way to explain to people that word Redskin to our family means “Respect and Pride” for a teams mascot that we have all been raised with.
I personally do NOT know of anyone in Colusa that thinks of the word Redskin in a hurtful way.
OUR FAMILY will always hold up with great Honor and Pride that we played and cheered for our Redskins all these years.
I think it would be dishonorable to change the name.

| We, as a nation, have become so focused on being "politically correct" that we have lost all common sense. |
