Longtime county workers feted after announcing their retirements
Mary Anderson and Carol Pearson have worked for Colusa County for a combined total of 67 years, and both women have announced their retirement at the end of 2013.
The two long-tenured county workers received proclamations from the Colusa County Board of Supervisors at its Monday meeting honoring their years of service and dedication to the county.
Anderson has served as the director of Child Support Services since 2001.
"Are you sure this time?" Supervisor Denise Carter jokingly asked Anderson before presenting her with the proclamation.
"Yes, finally," Anderson replied.
Pearson has worked full time as the assistant Veterans Services officer for Colusa County since 1999. She worked in the same capacity on a part-time basis the year prior to that.
Carter also presented Pearson with her proclamation on the behalf of the board.
"You've been a tremendous asset to all the veterans in our county," Carter said.
"More than anything, I want to I'm going to miss the veterans. They have been my whole life, and it's been very rewarding," Pearson said.
