Letter: A vote for Vann

I want to write in support of Kim Vann, our local county supervisor who is running for Congress in the new 3rd District.

Kim Vann has faithfully served the people of Colusa County for the past six years and has worked to ensure that we have access to the county services we need. She has been a leader in our community, particularly through such endeavors as the Arbuckle Revitalization Committee; she was instrumental in helping with the formation of the Arbuckle Parks and Recreation Committee; and was the major player in getting lights installed for the Arbuckle Little League field.

When the County of Colusa needed funds and couldn't rely on the state to get its act together, Kim sought out a partnership with PG&E to build a power plant that created new jobs and provided millions in dedicated tax revenues for the county. She then led the charge to bring a branch of Woodland Community College to the city of Williams, which sits in the center of Colusa County and is the first establishment of higher education in our county.

Kim has also been elected president of the Regional Association of Rural Counties for her ability to bring people together to solve problems. She has led the fight against a local tax grab that would have harmed local public safety services and she has fought to put the county on stable financial footing.

This is the kind of leadership that I have seen and respect in Kim. Please join me in supporting Kim Vann on Nov 6.
