Burchfield school readying for book fair

The annual Burchfield Primary School Fall Book Fair kicks off on Oct. 1 with a puppet show.

The theme this year is All Star Book Fair — Every Reader is a Star.

The Book Fair, which runs through Oct. 5, starts after school on that opening Monday and runs through 4:30 p.m.

At 6 p.m., the Puppet Art Theater of Sacramento will present "Hansel and Gretel" as part of a free family event in the cafeteria.

The book fair re-opens when the show is over.

On Tuesday through Thursday, the Book Fair runs from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

On Friday, the final day, the Book Fair runs from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

All proceeds from the event will be used to purchase books and other materials for the Burchfield library, which not only serves as a resource center for students, but also hosts storytime and provides other services.

Burchfield Primary is located at 400 Fremont St. in Colusa.
