Briefs: Golden Pheasant event set

Our Lady of Lourdes parish will host its annual Golden Pheasant Celebration from 5-7 p.m., Feb. 12, at St. Bernadette's Hall, 745 Ware Ave., Colusa.

Tickets are $100 with a prize of $1,000. The tickets can be shared by as many as four people.

Chairwoman of the event is Maryann LaGrande.

Sam Paredes to speak

Sam Paredes, executive director of the California Gun Owners Association, will speak at the Glenn County Patriots meeting at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 7 at Andy's, 236 W. Sycamore St., Willows.

New changes in the law pertaining to all firearms, such as the right to carry, registration and transporting, will be discussed.

Farm Show Alumni Breakfast

The 10th annual Alumni Breakfast at the Colusa Farm Show will start at 7 a.m. Feb. 8 in Saint Bernadette's Hall, 745 Ware St., Colusa, sponsored by CSU, Chico College of Agriculture, the California Ag Leadership Program and Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

Sandra Schubert, undersecretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, will be the guest speaker.

Tickets are $25 and can be reserved by contacting Leslie Santos at 898-6343.

Free almond workshops

A free workshops for almond growers will be held Feb. 13 at the Arbuckle Golf Club, 5918 Hillgate Road, Arbuckle. Franz Niederholzer, Farm Advisor for Colusa, Sutter and Yuba counties, will discuss rootstock and variety selection, as well as disease implications.
