Letter: Keep hunting fields wet
Glenn-Colusa Irrigation District has adopted a policy of shutting off the water to duck clubs on the west side of the valley on Jan. 7 every year.
What this meanss is that a good portion of the hunters that shoot the rice fields in the area will be looking for clubs in other areas where they can hunt until the end of the season and their kids can participate in the youth hunt the week after the season closes. These hunters support the motels, restaurants, gas stations and pretty much the whole community.
Please contact GCID and have your voices heard. If they delay the shutdown for two weeks, we can keep the fields flooded and not have to leave.
