Trial of former youth football head continued
The trial for a past president of Colusa County Youth Football accused of embezzling nearly $14,000 from the organization between July 23, 2012 and Dec. 18, 2012, has been continued until Jan. 22.
Rebecca Frias, against whom the case was filed on Nov. 30, was arraigned on Dec. 3. She faces five felony county counts: three counts of forgery, one for embezzlement, and one for grand theft.
Frias was scheduled to enter a plea last Wednesday morning, but According District Attorney John Poyner said she did not.
Poyner earlier had said Frias was president of the Colusa Cowboys organization and was helping the treasurer at the time in question.
Suspicions were raised when the treasurer of the organization received a call from Umpqua Band that the account was overdrawn, which did not match bank statements. Police say Frias altered the statements.
