Three spend week at Girls State in LA

Three Colusa County girls spent a week this summer at Girls State, which was held at Clarmount McKeane College at Los Angeles.

Allison Costa, of Maxwell High, Samantha Coombs, of Williams High, and Ellen Hansen, of Pierce High, attended the leadership event from June 25 to July 2.

The girls, all seniors this fall, were sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 218 Maxwell.

Additionally, the Auxiliary also helped pay for the fees and other costs for its hometown representative. Costa is the daughter of George and Laurie Costa of Maxwell.

The Pierce Joint Unified School District helped sponsor Hansen, daughter of Laura and Curtis Hansen of Arbuckle, while Delta Theta Pi helped sponsor Coombs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Coombs of Williams.

Each girl was selected because of her academic, leadership and other accomplishments.
