Mental Health board has opening

The Colusa County Mental Health Board is seeking applications for Mental Health board members. Duties include reviewing and evaluating the community's mental health needs, services, facilities and special problems, and advising the Colusa County Board of Supervisors and the local mental health director about the local program.

The board also sits as the Mental Health oversight and accountability for Colusa County Mental Health Services Act funding, and reviews and approves the procedures used to ensure citizen and professional involvement at all stages of the planning process.

The board meets for one hour on the first Monday of each month, 10 months out of the year. For more information contact Steffany Ritchie, Program Development Chief, Mental Health Services Act at 458-0845.

Methodist Church hosts chili feed

The Maxwell United Methodist Church will host a Chili Bean Feed from 5-7 p.m. today at the corners of California and Olive streets. Donations are accepted for dine-in or take out.

Fellowship with The Edge on Sundays

Our Lady of Lourdes Junior High Youth Group, the EDGE, takes place at 6:30 p.m. every Sunday night for two hours of fun, activities and faith-centered learning at St. Bernadette's Hall. All junior high youth are invited to attend.

St. Patrick's Day fundraiser at Granzella's

Granzella's will host a St. Patrick's Day fundraiser from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday to benefit Citizens for a Better Williams. Tickets are $9 for adults; $5 for children and are available at the door or in advance at the Granzella's office next to the gift shop across from the restaurant at 457 Seventh St. For more information, call 473-5583.

Friends of The Library hosts meeting

The Friends of the Colusa County Library will hold their annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Colusa County Chamber and Visitor Center, 2963 Davison Court.

Author Robert V. Hardy, author of "Circular Passages, a Young Man's 480-Day Global Odyssey," will be the guest speaker. Refreshments will be served and everyone is invited. Contact Catherine Bernard for information: 458-5601.

County walks are planned

Our Lady of Lourdes Parish will host its annual Live Stations of the Cross after the 5:30 p.m. Mass on Friday. The Confirmation class will make the ceremonial walk. A Stone Soup Supper will follow at St. Bernadette's Hall.

Mass, Stations of the Cross, followed by Soup Supper takes place every Friday evening during Lent starting at our Lady of Lourdes Church.

The Stagehands present two shows

The Stagehands will present its spring plays "The Question," a children's play, and the family-oriented "The Revenge of the Red Feather Ladies" on March 19-21 and March 26-27. The March 21 performance is a matinee with curtain time at 2:15 p.m.. Doors open at 1:30. All other performance dates begin at 8:15 p.m., doors open at 7:30.

Tickets are $8 and are on sale at Messick Hardware and the Country Stop in Colusa, The Pizza Factory in Arbuckle as well as nightly at the door. For more information, contact Shot Sistrunk at (916)591-5070.

Williams to host 33rd antique show

The Williams Antique Show will be held 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 20 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 21 at the Old Gym located at 1491 E Street, behind the museum. The cost is $5 and includes admission to the museum. Visitors will receive $1 off if they mention seeing this announcement. The Church of Annunciation will have homemade cakes, pies, soups and sandwiches available for purchase.

New spring bird walks at the river units

The Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge will hold a nature walk on March 26 just north of Highway 162 on the west side of the river, taking participants through a mixture of cottonwoods, grasslands and freshwater habitat. Pre-registration is required, 934-2801.
