Pumpkin Festival on Saturday

Children can pick out their pumpkins and participate in a number of other activities while parents shop at the crafts, food and other booths at Saturday's Pumpkin Festival in Arbuckle.

The event, sponsored by the Arbuckle Revitalization Committee, will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at LaVanche Hursch Community Park in the downtown area.

Tommy's Market Street Grill is catering the barbecue lunch.

Measure G meetings set

Williams has set information meetings on Measure G, a local ballot initiative that would continue a half-cent sales tax that would otherwise expire at the end of March.

The meetings are at 7 p.m. Oct. 15 at the Williams fire station, 810 E St.; and 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at City Hall, 810 E St.

The measure would make the tax permanent.

City officials note the tax represents about $410,000 annually to the general fund, or about 14 percent of the total revenue.

New hours for Colusa library

The Colusa branch of the Colusa County Library will now be open on Fridays starting this week. The hours will be from noon-5 p.m.

The library is open from 10 a.m-5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, and 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Thursday.

FFA drive-thru dinner set

The Maxwell FFA will be hosting a drive-thru pasta dinner from 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. Tuesday.

Tickets are $7 and can be pre-purchased or paid when picking up order. Proceeds benefit students attending the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind.

The dinner will be held in the Maxwell High School parking lot and the pasta is donated and prepared by Louis Cairos.

Danish gymnasts to perform

A group of Danish gymnasts will put on a free performance at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Colusa High gymnasium.

Halloween ball in Arbuckle

The Alpha Kappa Chapter of Omega Nu is hosting a Spooktachular Halloween Ball on Oct. 27 in the Arbuckle Old Fellows Hall, 605 Fifth St.

The witching hour begins at 6:30 p.m., and includes dinner and dancing.

The $40 donation supports the Omega Nu Scholarship Fund.

Must be at least 21 to attend.

Free health event is Tuesday

A Prevention Plus Health event will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Colusa County Chamber of Commerce, 2963 Davison Court, Colusa.

Dr. Sears Certified L.E.A.N. Coach and Nutritionist Deana Christofferson will talk about the link between nutrition and disease; disease prevention; reversing disease; protecting yourself from colds and flues; decreasing inflammation and the aging process.

The Healthy Families Campaign, reversing childhood illness over the next 10 years and how to sponsor a child for free will also be discussed.
