Taste of Italy on tap Jan. 31

The Knights of Columbus John Paul II Council of the Sacred Heart Parish (Arbuckle/Williams/Maxwell/Stonyford) will present its second annual “A Taste of Italy” fundraiser from 3 to 6 p.m. on Jan. 31, at the Arbuckle Fire Hall.  A cioppino dinner (tri-tip roast) with all the trimmings will be served. Cost $20; $5.00 at the door for children 6-12; free for children under 5. Event includes music, door prizes. Proceeds go back into the community. Burger King helps Williams students

Burger King in Williams will sponsor a fundraiser for the Williams High School Senior class trip from 4 to 8 p.m.. On Jan. 21 and Feb. 19. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the senior class. Tell the cashier you saw this brief in the Colusa County Sun-Herald when ordering.


Crab feed benefits Colusa firefighters

The Colusa Firefighters Association will hold its annual Crab and Steak Feed Dinner and Dance on Jan. 24, in the main Exhibit Hall at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for no-host cocktails with dinner at 6:30 p.m. Raffle and auction: 7:30 p.m. Dancing: 9:30 p.m. to Northern Heart. Tickets are $40 per person and available at the Colusa Fire Department or from any Colusa firefighter. For more information, call 458-7721.


Where to dump Christmas tree

Christmas trees may be dropped off at 9th and Webster streets behind the swimming pool after the holidays to be picked up by the Colusa Public Works Department. Trees are not to be placed in the street for pickup. All trees must have stands and nails removed as well as garland, tinsel, etc. The last day to dispose of trees is Jan. 16.


Cook-off slated at fairgrounds

Sac River Cast Iron Cookers will host a Dutch-oven cook-off on Jan. 17, at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. Tasting: $5 per person. Cooks are awarded by “People’s Choice.” Cooking starts at 8 a.m. followed by tasting at 1 p.m. Awards held at 2:30 p.m. Cook’s fee is $30 and applications are available at dmason50@att.net. Proceeds from this event are distributed to local organizations. For more information call, 458-8009.


Crab feed aids youth activities

Colusa County Youth Football and Cheerleading will host its annual crab feed at 6 p.m., Jan. 17, at Festival Hall at the Colusa County Fairgrounds. Tickets $30. For information or tickets, call 624-2030; 681-0330; or (Espanol) 415-0444.


Seniors encouraged to do more walking

The Colusa Parks and Community Service Department offers a weekly senior walking program at 10 a.m. each Tuesday at City Hall, 425 Webster St. For more information, call 458-5622, ext. 109, or go to www.cityofcolusa.com.
