We all need time to ourselves

Just a thought

The days are warm here in Northern California. It is beginning to look a little like summer. I can look out of my bedroom window and see the sprinklers turning in the orchard. That’s a pretty picture for sure.

I just came in from mowing the grass and that too is something that pleases me. I like the smell of the fresh mown lawn and I like the neat trim look my little yard has when I’ve finished. Plus, it feels good to do a little physical work. – But mostly I’m just happy the mower works and I didn’t blow it up.

A lesson I learned recently was not to much too much motor oil in the mower. There for a while I thought I’d really messed the mower up. I thought I was going to have to buy a new one. I’m pretty sure I’m not out of the woods with it yet, but at least it is running.

I don’t know much about mechanical things. There are just some things in life I’m not good at. Mechanics is one of them.

Lucky for me I have people in my life who do understand the things that I don’t and that those people are willing to help me.

I ‘ranch sat’ and took care of the animals this weekend. I always enjoy doing that. It is quiet and beautiful out there. I took some time to myself. Did a little baking, watched some movies, and pretty much just rested up a little. The chores were light, so it was more of a retreat than a working weekend. I think I needed that a little.

We all need a little time to ourselves from time to time. At the beginning of each new week I know there are deadlines to meet, tasks to accomplish and projects to complete. By the time the weekend comes I’m ready to rest.

I really enjoy the outdoors. The evenings are longer now and that just makes it all the better.

I’d say if you have an opportunity to spend time outside; do it. It can’t hurt. It is free to enjoy the things God made.

Just a thought…..
