Vets to host indoor yard sale

 

The Colusa Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold its annual indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The VFW hall is located at Bridge and Market in Colusa.

Hazardous waste to be collected

Colusa County will host a free hazardous and universal waste collection event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Paints, thinners, pool chemicals, pesticides, weed killers, batteries, fluorescent and CFL tubes, household cleaners will be accepted. Limit 125 pounds per trib. Collection will be at the Colusa County Road Department, 5714 E. St., Williams.

Enjoy an afternoon of tea

The Annual Almond Blossom Tea will be held at noon Saturday at the Arbuckle Community Church, 700 Hillgate Road. The Tea will feature a salad luncheon, a raffle for a hand-made quilt, door prized and entertainment. The cost is $8 per person. For more information, call Gena Woodward at 476-3021.

Special needs kids can fish for free

13 openings remain for special needs children who would like to try their luck with rod and reel for the free fishing day at Gray Lodge Wildlife Area from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 17 and is sponsored by the Catch a Special Thrill foundation of Gridley. Friends are invited to celebrate with Bessie Woods

The family of Bessie Woods invite her friends to celebrate her 90th birthday from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at the Colusa Scouts Cabin, 901 Parkhill St., Colusa. A basket for cards will be available.

Community Meeting announced

The Colusa County Sheriff's Office will hold a community meeting at 7 p.m. March 11 at the Grimes Scout Cabin to discuss topics of importance with the community. In addition to the Grimes meeting, the Sheriff's office will continue to host community meetings for Colusa, Maxwell, Arbuckle, Stonyford, Princeton and Williams.

Give blood, save a life

From 8:30 a.m. to noon March 11, Maxwell High School and BloodSource will host a blood drive. All participants will receive a free t-shirt. For more information, call 1-866-82blood or visit www.bloodsource.org.

Crab Feed at St. Bernadette's Hall

Our Lady of Lourdes School will host a crab dinner from 5:30-8 p.m. March 12 at St. Bernadette's Hall, 745 Ware Ave., Colusa. Dinner includes crab, salad, beans, bread and dessert. A beer and wine bar will also be available. Tickets $40, are available at Oll School, 458-8208; Redding Oil, 458-4727; and Sankey Auto, 458-2125.

Enjoy traditional St. Paddy's day

Granzella's will host a St. Patrick's Day fundraiser to benefit Citizens for a Better Williams. Traditional corned beef and cabbage will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 17, at the Granzella's banquet center, 457 7th St. Tickets are $9 for adults; $5 for children and available at the door or in advance, at the Granzella's office next to the gift shop or Shear Class in Williams, 530 7th St. For more information, call 473-5583.
