Farmers Market to wind down in Colusa

Monday is the last day for the Colusa Certified Farmers Market. The market will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Colusa Business & Visitor Center, 2963 Davison Court. Colusa (Industrial Properties off Highway 20.) Barbecue dinner served. Details: 458-5955.

Safe Haven to perform for youth

Safe Haven will give a free performance 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at New Life Christian Center, 218 8th Street, Williams. Doors will open at 6:40 p.m. Safe Haven is from Chandler, Arizona and will be performing also at the Rock of Ages Festival on Oct. 3 in Calistoga. This is a free youth event but all ages are welcome to attend. Details: 788-3394.

Music event to benefit Colusa programs

Local bands LEGEND and HIWAY 20 band will perform at the pavilion during a 12-hour music event, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Oct. 3, at Colusa County Fairgrounds. All profits from this event will be given to Friends of Music, the music booster group for the Colusa. Citizens can learn police work

People interested in police work will have an opportunity to receive hands-on training at an upcoming Citizen Police Academy, hosted by the county's four law enforcement agencies. Classes begin Oct. 6. Participants will be schooled each Tuesday evening on topics relating to law enforcement, such as patrol operations, gang enforcement, traffic stops, crime scene investigation and community policing. Crafters kick off holiday season in Arbuckle

The 7th annual Holiday Crafter's Showplace will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Arbuckle Methodist Church, 9th and Pendleton Streets. New and seasoned vendors to participate. Lunch available.

Walk for life, breast cancer awareness

The third annual Breast Cancer Fund Walk will begin at 10 a.m. Oct. 10 from Memorial Park, Market and 10th streets, in Colusa. Sign-up begins at 9 a.m. Entertainment and fun immediately following. Walk is free, but donations are accepted. Details: 458-2111.

Firefighters host family fun event

The Colusa Firefighters Association Demolition Derby will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 17, at the Colusa Fairgrounds. Gates open at 5 p.m. Admission is $15 adult $7 child. Tickets are available at 750 Market St. in Colusa. Details: 458-7721.

Rummage sale benefits church

The Church of the Annunciation in Williams will host its annul rummage sale from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 1 and Oct. 2 and from 8:30 a.m. until noon on Oct. 3, at the Williams Veterans Hall, Ninth and C streets, Williams.

Mature drivers can brush up skills

The City of Colusa Parks and Community Services Department will offer the Mature Drivers Class, from 8:15 to 4:45 p.m., Oct. 24, in the conference room at City Hall, 425 Webster St. in Colusa, with an hour break for lunch. Cost is $15. People completing the class are eligible to receive a discount up to 15% on their auto insurance. This Certificate is valid for three years. Space is limited to 20 participants. Car show, barbecue helps revitalize Arbuckle

The annual Arbuckle Revitalization Committee car show and depot barbecue will be held Oct. 25 in downtown Arbuckle. Biggest event of the year. Lots of cars, vendors, entertainment and food.

Yoga and meditation class offered

A yoga and meditation class will be held Saturday mornings from 10:30 to 11:50 a.m. starting Oct. 17. Class will be held at city hall auditorium for 4 weeks. The cost is $50. Beginners welcome. Details: 458-5622 ext. 109.

Colusa Cowboys to play at home

Like youth football? The public is invited to come out and watch Colusa Cowboys while at home. Home games are played at Colusa High School against Wheatland, Oct. 10; and Yuba City, Oct. 17. Mighty Mites play at 8:45 a.m.; Jr. Peewee play at 10 a.m.; Peewee play at noon; Jr. Midget play at 2 p.m.; and Midgets play at 4 p.m.

Seniors invited to enjoy lunch

Senior citizens meet for lunch at noon, Monday through Thursday, at the Senior Center, 901 Parkhill St., Colusa. Suggested donations are $3 for seniors 60 and over and $4 for non-seniors. Reservations required. Details: 458-0380.
