Lauren LaGrande, with the Maxwell Future Business Leaders of America, took fifth place in the state in the Job Interview category.

Maxwell High students place in competitions

Maxwell High student Lauren LaGrande qualified to compete at the National Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas, and Aaron Yang, Andrea Robledo, and Daisy Rolon were winners of the Who's Who Northern Section award at the recent Future Business Leaders of America competition held in Irvine.

LaGrande placed fifth in the job interview category. Maribel Venegas and Daisy Rolon placed seventh in Desktop Publishing.

The Maxwell High chapter was awarded the Gold Seal Award and Outstanding Chapter honor.

Nineteen FBLA members and three chaperones attended the state competition.

"Competitions at the state level can be difficult," Allison Costa, the Maxwell chapter public relations officer, said in a statement. "Most schools are much larger than Maxwell High. Even with that in mind, members went and competed in the competitions ranging from Business Procedures to Hospitality Management to Public Speaking II."

Yang also received an FBLA State Scholarship, and Costa received the Goes Green individual award.

Jessica Parra was installed as the Northern Section parliamentarian.

"The FBLA State Leadership Conference is a wonderful experience that helps its members network with students from all over California, promote their leadership skills as well as any others they may possess, and become America's future in the business world," Costa stated.
