Two candidates nights slated

Soroptimist International of Colusa County has scheduled candidates nights next week in Colusa and Williams. Local, state and federal candidates have been invited.

The first will be held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Egling Middle School, 813 Webster St.

The second will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Williams Junior High, 300 11th St.

Logue sets town hall meeting

Assemblyman Dan Logue will host a town hall meeting from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Chico Masonic Family Center, 1110 W. East Ave., Chico.

Board of Equalization member George Runner and David Wolfe of the Howard Jarvis Tax Payers Association will also be present to discuss the Fire Tax and other propositions on the November ballot.

Voter registration tent planned

The Colusa County Elections Department will be signing up voters in a tent in front of the historic courthouse as part of National Voter Registration Day on Tuesday.

The booth will be open from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.

To register, a person must be at least 18 years old by the date of the election, a US citizen and a resident of California.

Westside LL meeting Oct. 8

Westside Little League will be choosing its officers for next season at a meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Arbuckle Golf Course.

Anyone from Arbuckle, Maxwell and Williams wishing to be an officer must attend. It is open to the public.

Red Cross training available

The American Red Cross Northeastern California Chapter has scheduled three meetings to highlight the roles of volunteers.

Anyone with an interest in serving your community in public relations, instructing in health and safety, service to Armed Forces, disaster response or other areas, can attend one of meetings:

• Oct. 3: 6 p.m., American Red Cross headquarters office, 2125 E. Onstott Road, Yuba City.

• Oct. 11: 3 p.m. and 6 p.m., Colusa Senior Center, 901 Parkhill St., Colusa.

Training is provided by the American Red Cross at no cost and volunteers can begin serving immediately. For more information, call Carolyn Johnson at 673-1460.

Reception for painter this week

A reception with artist Larissa Wilson will be held from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Thursday at the Colusa County Arts Council office, 430 Market St., Suite C.

Wilson works in watercolor, pastel and pencil, and will begin teaching pastel and watercolor classes on the first and third Saturdays beginning in October.

Halloween Ball on Thursday

The Alpha Kappa Chapter of Omega Nu is hosting a Spooktachular Halloween Ball on Thursday in the Arbuckle Old Fellows Hall, 605 Fifth St.

The witching hour begins at 6:30 p.m. and includes dinner and dancing. Attendees must be at least 21.

The $40 donation supports the Omega Nu Scholarship Fund.

Danish gymnasts will perform

A group of Danish gymnasts will put on a free performance at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Colusa High School gymnasium.
