Bulldogs pitch shutout at 'Jackets
The Los Molinos High soccer team welcomed Mid-Valley League foe Williams to town on Thursday, but played less-than-gracious hosts to the Yellowjackets, netting three goals in each half for a 6-0 victory.
With the win Los Molinos remained tied with Esparto atop the MVL leader board with 8-1-1 records, although the Bulldogs are 9-2-1 on the year and the Spartans are 8-4-2.
Fleet-footed sophomore Jose Gonzales scored four times and assists on another score for Los Molinos, pushing his league-leading number of goals to 40, and his points-per-game average to 8.0.
Erick Hernandez scored the other two goals for the Bulldogs, giving him 15 on the season.
Francisco Gamboa and Felipe Martinez also provided assists.
The Williams defense was certainly put to the test, with the Bulldogs firing off 18 shots, while Los Molinos keeper Zach Doyle repelled all eight Williams shots he faced.
The Yellowjackets fell to 5-4-1 in league play and 6-5-2 on the year.
Los Molinos hosted Hamilton at home Tuesday, and puts it all on the pitch Thursday when they travel to Esparto.
Williams played in Colusa on Tuesday.
