Community Briefs: Schools music festival tonight
The Colusa County Music Festival, featuring programs from the various school districts, will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Pierce High School auditorium in Arbuckle.
Sheriff's Maxwell meeting slated
Colusa County Sheriff Scott Marshall will hold a community meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the sheriff's substation in Maxwell.
It is the first of seven community meetings. The next will be held March 8 in Arbuckle.
Colusa photo show entries due
The Colusa County Arts Council is accepting entries to its "Feeling at Home: A Photo Essay" show being held in conjunction with the annual Virginia Yerxa Community Read. Entries are due Thursday.
The Virginia Read, focusing on "The Grapes of Wrath," will be held April 28. The Arts Council show will highlight black and white photos "featuring images that capture the felling of home" and in the style of photographer Dorothea Lange.
Lange was associated with John Steinbeck as he wrote the articles that ultimately became his classic novels.

Tables open at VFW yard sale
The Veterans of Foreign Wars is hosting an indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

County general plan meeting set
The Colusa County Planning Commission is scheduled to make recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding the 2030 General Plan update and the environmental Impact report at 9 a.m. on March 12.
The meeting had been scheduled for March 5.
The Commission meets in the supervisors chambers on the second floor of the historic Colusa County Courthouse, 547 Market St.

Seats open on Williams panels
Williams is accepting applications for its Planning and Recreation commissions.
One position, the term for which expires at the end of the year, is open on the Planning Commission after Don Povlsen told city officials he is stepping down.
Two positions are open on the Recreation Commission. Both terms expire at the end of 2014.

Art Show & Share in March
Local artists' paintings and photographs will be on display for the "Art Show & Share" from 3-6 p.m. March 21 at CRMC Arbuckle Medical office, 900 King St., in front of Dr. Johnson's former office.

Firefighters holding Taco Feed
The Indian Valley Fire Department will hold its Indian Taco Feed fundraiser from 5-8 p.m. March 24 at the Stonyford Town Hall. A raffle and door prizes will also be available.
