Letter: Story is sensationalism
The front page article on Saturday, Aug. 28, entitled "Ingebretsen killer cannot ask for release" was uncalled for sensationalism.
I am Janis Ramazzini's sister, Nathan's aunt, and under Senate Bill 399, Nathan would not be released after serving 25 years. Read the bill.
Nathan could be eligible to petition the court for a hearing after serving 15 years and again after serving 20 years, providing specific criteria are met.
If a hearing were granted, Nathan would be returned to the same court that originally convicted him for the resentencing.
There are no guarantees that the sentence would be reduced. The best possible outcome is that Nathan could be resentenced to 25 to life; the same sentence given to (Leo) Contreras.
Does anyone in Colusa remember when we were the victim's family? Our brother was shot and killed and no one was ever charged to our knowledge.
