Letter: Slower can be better
I have an issue to Celest Guana's letter in the July 31 paper.
You bring bad attention to very good eating establishments. In regards to Mimi's $6 burrito, can you get a burrito the same size and good taste as Mimi's at Taco Bell? Yes, it may be quicker, but any food that's a good quality isn't prepared fast.
You spoke of Kim's Deli. Have you ever been in Kim's? The prices reflect the quality and quantity of the food you are getting. There is a saying that works well for this case: You get what you pay for. You can go to Burger King or Taco Bell and pay a few bucks for a so-so burger or burrito slapped together in as quick a time as possible. And yes, the employees are rewarded for there quickness.
But you stand a good chance your order will be wrong (totally different issue), and have sat before you a mediocre meal.
Or, you can go to Mimi's or Kim's and wait a little while longer and have a freshly prepared food item made by someone who cares not about how fast they can get your money and you out the door, but cares about how you like and enjoy the taste of there food.
Again, you get what you pay for. I'd rather wait and be patient for a good meal, and pay a few more bucks, than pay pocket change for rushed junk food.
