Williams boy run over, killed
A 6-year-old boy Williams boy is dead after he was run over by the driver of a Ford F-150 pickup outside of his home on Saturday night, the Williams Police Department said.
Ralph William Dolbow, a 70-year-old Williams man, backed out of a parking space and began to drive north in the Pinewood Apartment complex when he hit the child, police said.
Anthony David Murillo was playing in the driveway of the apartment complex with a 7-year-old friend.
Dolbow ran over Anthony and brushed his friend, who was not severely injured, police said.
The Police Department, Williams Fire Department and Enloe paramedics attempted to save the child, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to the press release, Dolbow was "visibly shaken and upset following the collision, and has fully cooperated with the Police Department."
While the investigation into the accident is ongoing, it does not appear that alcohol or drugs were involved, police said.
The Police Department is being assisted by the California Highway Patrol, and the Colusa County Sheriff's Office is handling the coroner's investigation.
"Preliminary, it appears this may have been a tragic accident. No words can console a parent for the loss of a child," said Williams Police Chief James Saso in the press release.
The Williams School District made counselors available Monday morning to students.
