Report from the Catholic Ladies Relief Society

The Catholic Ladies Relief Society met at St. Bernadette’s Hall on Wednesday evening November 7 with a large group of members attending. Correspondence was read and several cheer cards had been sent the past month. Bobbi Jo gave a report on the relief committee; Janita Smith gave an update on the Christmas food baskets. A report was given on the parish raffle with prizes to be given away Saturday November 10. Announcements of coming events were as follows: A lunch for Principals for Catholic School on Wednesday November 14t at St. Bernadette’s Hall. Coffee and donuts will also be served after the 9 a.m. Mass that morning. The Annual Christmas party for members will be on Wednesday evening December 5 at St. Bernadette’s Hall beginning at 6 p.m. Cynthia White and Susan Walsh are chairman for this activity. The workdays for filling the Christmas food baskets will be December 12, 13 and 14 at the fairgrounds. The Bridge-Whist luncheon and card party will be held on Saturday January 19 at St. Bernadette’s Hall with lunch at 11:30 a.m. The New Year’s Eve party will be held at St. Bernadette’s Hall with Judi Rogers as chairperson. Tickets will be available soon so make your reservation early. The day of recollection will be on Wednesday February 13 also at St. Bernadette’s Hall. Rose Buria is Chairperson. Cynthia white was installed as senior vice president of the local Catholic Ladies Relief Society by past grand president Rose Buria. Mary Overton past president of the local group for the past two years was presented with a gift from the group by Eileen Davies, also a past grand president. Mary was given honor for her work as president, also a past grand president and at present time serving as grand deputy of the grand council of Catholic Ladies Relief Societies. Meeting adjourned with delicious refreshments served by hostesses Bobbi Jo Seaver and Janita Smith. Silver March prize-winner was Rosemary Hicks.
