Groundwater to be subject of public forum
Chico and AquAlliance will host a forum to update the public on local groundwater monitoring, Butte County's efforts to protect ground water and the current and pending threats to water.
After the 1994 Drought Water Bank, many farmers, residents and policy makers became aware of the intense interest in North State ground water by state and federal water agencies. The resulting response created a foundation for protecting the regional aquifer through county ordinances and legal challenges.
The Butte County Ground Water Forum: What Do We Know and How Are We Trying to Protect It? is 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Nov. 14 at Chico City Council Chambers, 411 Main St., in Chico.
