Recall no reason to be disrespectful

State law and the election process give the voters the right to recall an elected official. Just as voters have the right to oppose a recall. Of course, I’m talking about the ongoing recall of Superintendent of Schools Arturo Barrera.

We all have differing opinions and shouldn’t take it personally when we don’t agree. But to stand and shake a finger and tell someone they are “going to hell,” as one man did at the Fourth of July festivities in Orland, or to shout from the top of the Willows post office steps “Don’t sign it, it’s not true,” as one Willows pastor did, is unprofessional, immature and uncalled for.

People do not need to agree with each other; however, we should treat one another with respect.
