Letter: Fox is 'right' place to be
I can’t believe I could write this about any president of our United States: Our current president’s a liar; the big news networks help him lie every day.
If this makes you see red, good. Try listening to Fox News to understand what our president’s doing. I’ve never heard any president call out private news organizations, trying to discredit and intimidate them.
In this latest uproar about the “sequester,” our president says it’s the Republicans’ fault.
Unless you’ve no memory of 18 months ago, the newly elected majority in the House were threatening to shut down the government unless there were major cuts to the government’s spending. Obama promised to offer cuts in the future in exchange for a “sequester deal.” The dumb Republicans went along with trusting the president to keep his word.
Now, fast forward to last new year: The raising of the debt limit. The president promised there would be no sequester if the Republicans agreed to postponing the debt limit fight until March in exchange for raising taxes on millionaires and billionaires. Dumb Republicans agreed, taxes went up on the wealthy and everyone. Still the president wants no responsibilities in this mess.
Obama comes out saying, “It wasn’t my idea!” He travels, lying about awful consequences of the sequester, when the cuts proposed equal one penny out of every dollar of spending. The Senate passes no budget; not even the three years of budgets passed by Republicans in the House.
Watch Fox News. Don’t be fooled.
