Pickup crashes into ditch off Lurline Road
A red GMC pickup was found Sunday night partially submerged in a ditch about 3 miles west of Colusa on Lurline Road.
There were no injuries in the crash that happened about 7:45 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said in a statement. The driver had left the scene and was found at home. The CHP determined that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
"It's pretty basic. A car just ran off the road. Apparently, they hit a fence about 2 miles (west of the crash location) and lost their headlights, but continued to drive. At some point, they lost control of the vehicle, where they ran into the ditch," a CHP officer said at the scene. "Apparently, they decided to continue walking from there."
While the loss of the headlights was determined to be the cause of the crash, the officer said that sometimes drivers on Lurline, a gravel road, drive too fast and lose control due to their speed.
