Letter: Rodriguez for college board

This letter is in support of Cirenio Rodriguez for the Yuba Community College District board seat that represents Colusa and Arbuckle. As an educator for 22 years, and having known Dr. Rodriguez for 20 of those years, I can honestly say that I have seen him have an impact on hundreds of teachers, school administrators, professors and students in the Northern California region.

Rodriguez’s expertise as a school board member of the Woodland Joint Unified School District, Yolo County Office of Education and a member of various community nonprofit agencies have made him a champion and advocate for the needs of all students and families of Yolo County. He understands the need to grow the community college programs for students in Colusa and is willing to be an advocate and represent the higher educational interests of students in this community.

As a graduate of Colusa High School, former school administrator of Colusa

Unified and supporter for increasing the community college programs in Colusa, I endorse and encourage Colusa voters to vote for Rodriguez for the Yuba Community College District board. Colusa will be a better educational community for it.

Edgar Lampkin

Thanks al anon. That list was read over the air on an AM station last week. The governor says we'll lose firefighters and teachers. Please view the list and ask yourself why Arnold did not mention these 500 other agencies. It IS a scare tactic.

chris is wrong. IF we agreed to a 25 percent tax hike, we would be in the exact same fiasco in 5 years. And people like you, who are probably part of the 50 percent who pay no taxes, would want more taxes. go to google and type in list california state agencies. Then click on the wikipedia link and scroll through the 500 plus agencies that make up the state of california. Even the most liberal voter will cringe when viewing this list. Go ahead, I dare you.

Why is it that whenever somebody in government tries to increase taxes, people freak out? You failed to mention income brackets effected by the tax increases as well as the other numbers. Don't forget that a big reason why we are currently in an economic crisis in CA is because our governors won't increase taxes to pay for our infrastructure and instead get loans aka. bonds which put us in further debt. Wake up, we need more taxes. Our budget shortfalls are from a lack of tax money and too little spent on social services and education. It's possible that you might benefit from a high school level economics class, god knows most tax-fearing Americans don't even know that much.

I would agree with the last comment. I had him as an instructor, he cares about the students and has shown his commitment to Colusa County residents.

Cirenio Rodriguez will be an excellent choice to represent Colusa County. We need someone who is willing to hear our concerns and do what is best for Colusa County.

Same-sex slapdown
What's your reaction to the state Supreme Court upholding the ban on same-sex marriage?
I'm glad to see the will of the majority of voters was supported.
I don't agree with it. Equal rights should be for all Californians.
