Briefs: Arbuckle market starts today
The 2012 Arbuckle Certified Farmers Market season will kick off today from 5-7:30 p.m. at LaVanche Hursch Community Park in downtown Arbuckle.
The market will run every Wednesday in June through August, featuring lots of farm-fresh products from local producers.
Tommy's Market Grill will be hosting the weekly barbecue again this year.
Kids workshops start Monday
Colusa Parks and Recreation will host two Summer Camp sessions for children 5 and older beginning Monday.
The first session will take place June 11-12, June 14, June 18, June 19 and June 21.
The second session will take place July 9-10, July 12, July 16-17 and July 19.
Both sessions are held from 3-5 p.m. and cost $130 per session.
Children will paint a plate just for Father's Day in the first session. Other projects include a mug and saucer to be used the last day of each session for an ice cream party, a necklace, piggy bank, trinket box and bracelet.

Kids swimming lessons offered
Colusa Parks and Community Services Department is offering Red Cross Swim lessons this summer for children 4 and older
There will be a two sessions: June 18-29 and July 11-20.
Anyone interested in registering for a class may do so by signing up at City Hall, 425 Webster St.
Class size is limited so early enrollment is encouraged.
Cost to register for class is $40 plus an additional $8 if the child resides outside the city limits.

Junior Lifesaving courses slated
Junior Lifesaving courses are available through the Colusa Parks and Community Services Department. Students must have completed level three of the swim lessons prior to taking this course.
Participants will learn Basic Water Rescues, improve swimming skills and learn what it takes to be a professional lifeguard.
Level One will be held June 18-20; and Level Two from June 25-27. Each session is $60.
Advanced Junior Lifesaving courses will be held July 9-11 for $70.
